A Loan Program Can Help Close the Green-Building Gap

In a new study, Prof. Cameron LaPoint and his co-authors weigh the positives and negatives of a lending program that puts climate resiliency upgrades within reach of financially constrained homeowners. They find that while paying back the loans can strain some borrowers, the program allows more people to participate in the greening of the nation’s housing stock, while also providing positive effects for home values and the local tax base.
